Basin Modeling

LLC PetroTrace Services provides services of basin modeling.

We can deliver this separate interpretation technique to our clients, using either PetroMod (Schlumberger) or BeicipFranlab software. Whenever the project has enough of geological and geophysical data to be put as an input, this perfect technique can give the reliable petroleum system model, preferably on a regional scale. At client’s discretion we can opt for one or another software and methodology and are capable of performing pretty large projects due to support of our partners.

In the course of basin modeling project we perform quantitative modeling of geological processes (such as sedimentation, compression, thermal transformations, hydrocarbon generation, migration and accumulation), which take place in sedimentary basins. Reconstruction of these processes is executed with “backstripping” technique and covers the time frame from ancient sedimentary layer formation up to the present. As a result of the project we deliver structural chronological model, which in turn leads us to chronological maps of geological events, hydrocarbons migration pathways and probable locations of hydrocarbons accumulation.
